Hair loss is a serious and extremely common problem. Estimates suggest that around 50 million men and 30 million women suffer from genetic pattern baldness or thinning hair that affects their hairline and subsequently, their confidence and self-esteem.

While there are many different products that claim to be able to help with hair loss, the truth is that only hair transplantation is truly successful in enabling patients to naturally regrow missing hair and restore the appearance of their hairline.

One of the latest and arguably most innovative hair loss treatments available today is known as Neograft.

What is Neograft?

Neograft is a revolutionary new hair-loss treatment that is both minimally-invasive and yet still creates permanent, outstanding results.

The Neograft treatment is based around a technique that is known as Follicular Unit Excision, or FUE, a process was established in the 1990’s. FUE describes the process in which individual hair follicles are removes from the occipital part of the head (the back, lower part of the skull) and transplanted one by one into the area the patient wishes to restore hair to. FUE was found to be significantly superior to previous hair transplantation methods, known as strip harvesting, which involved removing entire strips of hair from one area on the head and replacing it in another.

However, the Neograft system has taken the FUE technique and improved on it even further. This is because the Neograft automated hair transplantation system removes individual follicles in their natural hair groupings, and gently transplants them using ‘no touch’ pneumatic technology. This eliminates the need for handling the follicles, thus ensuring that they are implanted in better condition and able to produce the best quality hair possible.

Why choose Neograft over other types of hair restoration treatment?

There are a range of different reasons why patients are choosing Neograft to help them achieve a hairline that they can be proud of.

Minimally invasive

Unlike conventional hair loss treatments, the minimally-invasive nature of Neograft means that there is no need for a scalpel and no incisions. This eliminates many patient's worries about pain and experiencing a wound as part of their procedure.

No scarring

Strip harvesting has one major, permanent drawback – scarring. Removing a large strip of the scalp inevitably means that the skin must be sewn back together using stitches – something that creates a linear scar across the back of the head. However, using FUE techniques, there is no major disruption to the skin on the head itself, just the removal of each individual follicle. This means that the area can recover much faster without any visible scarring.

Faster treatment

Unsurprisingly, FUE can be a long, drawn-out process since each follicle is removed individually. However, the Neograft system removes and replaces small groupings of 1-4 follicles at the same time, thus significantly reducing the treatment time.

Short recovery period

Again, the lack of incisions needed mean that recovering from Neograft is extremely fast and most patients can return to their usual activities within a day or two of the procedure. There is also a much lower risk of complications as there is no wound to keep clean and infection is much less likely to occur.
